Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get most, answered plainly.

What is off-bike apparel?

Off-bike apparel is clothing made for cyclists when they are not riding. The espresso stop, the commute, the workday, the recovery beer, the rest day. It carries cycling culture without looking like race kit. La Machine Cycle Club has built its whole range around that moment since 2013.

Does La Machine make race kit, jerseys or bib shorts?

Off-bike is the core of the range and has been since 2013: t-shirts, sweatshirts, polos, long sleeves, shorts, caps, beanies and accessories. Alongside that we make cycling socks, neck warmers and bidons, and late in 2026 a performance line for on the bike returns to the range. Off the bike is where the brand lives, and that does not change.

Is La Machine Cycle Club the same as the French street-theatre company La Machine?

No. Compagnie La Machine is a French street-theatre company known for the mechanical elephant of Nantes. La Machine Cycle Club is a Dutch cycling apparel brand founded in 2013 by Rens Robroek, based in Schijndel, the Netherlands. There is also a village called La Machine in Nièvre, France, and a BattleBots robot. None of them are us.

Where is La Machine clothing made?

In small runs, in family-run ateliers in Portugal and Turkey. La Machine designs everything in-house and does not chase the cheapest deal. Fewer pieces, better made, worn longer. Longevity over volume. That is our definition of sustainability.

Who founded La Machine Cycle Club, and when?

Rens Robroek founded La Machine in 2013 with 500 euro and a box of tees, from an attic in the Netherlands. No funding and no outside investors. The brand still designs everything itself and still packs orders by hand, now from Schijndel.

Which pro cycling teams wear La Machine?

La Machine is the official off-bike apparel partner of EF Pro Cycling, worn by the team all season away from the race. From July 2023 La Machine was the official leisurewear partner of Team Visma | Lease a Bike, through press conferences, travel days and rest days.

How does La Machine sizing work?

The range is unisex. Size charts are set per product category and shown on every product page. Women who prefer a closer fit usually order one or two sizes down.

Does La Machine ship internationally?

Yes. La Machine ships worldwide and is worn in more than 56 countries by over 50,000 customers. Shipping rates and free-shipping thresholds are listed on the shipping page.

What makes La Machine different from other cycling brands?

Most cycling brands start with performance and add lifestyle pieces afterwards. La Machine started off the bike. The clothing is built for the moments between rides, made in small runs from durable fabric, and designed to outlast the season rather than turn over with it. Everything else we make is judged by that same standard.
